The German coffee market is undergoing major transformation, mainly due to changing consumption habits in the younger generations: a smaller proportion of potential customers are buying coffee.

Ground coffee and coffee pods have experience a particular decline in popularity, while demand for whole bean coffee has increased, with its share in purchases rising from 31% to 41%. Younger consumers often drink less coffee, but two-thirds of Generation Z regularly buy energy drinks.
