The Auchan store in Debrecen has been renovated
In the future, one of Debrecen’s favorite shopping places, the Auchan hypermarket, will be waiting for customers in a renewed form. The public was able to take possession of the modernized store in a ceremonial setting today.
On the one hand, the modernization serves to reduce energy consumption by replacing large cooling equipment. The new cooling technology system will operate with 40% less energy consumption in the future. This significantly contributes to the fulfillment of the commitments made in Auchan Hungary’s ESG strategy. In order, for example, to reduce CO2 emissions from the operation of stores (Scope 1 and 2) by 46% and emissions outside stores (Scope 3) by 25% by 2030, since these new equipment in Debrecen also reduce gas emissions is reduced by orders of magnitude. Energy consumption is also optimized by the solar collectors installed on the roof of the store, which almost all Auchan already have, which means that the company has the largest solar park in the domestic retail sector. The fact that those arriving with green cars can also use electric charging stations at the gas station belonging to the Debrecen department store also points in the direction of sustainability.
One part of the modernization thus makes the company’s burden on the environment much more favorable than before, while the other half is specifically aimed at increasing the customer experience. The interior layout of the store will change so that the public can shop even more comfortably. Important departments such as the department of bakery and confectionery products have been renewed. This is also an extremely important product range at Auchanok because they have their own bakery and confectionary, which is almost unique in retail. In Debrecen, for example, 11 master bakers and 4 confectioners supply the store with fresh goods baked locally. The bakery was placed in the customer route to make it almost impossible to avoid. The renewed furniture creates an even more attractive environment for the mouth-watering range of baked goods. The entire beverage department has also been renewed, in which wines have been given a special place, since Auchan’s wine selection rivals that of specialty stores. 80 domestic wineries are represented on the shelves in addition to the international wine selection. The display of perfumes has been given a new look with a drugstore feel, and the vegetable department has also been rearranged to make it easier to choose between products.
In addition to the interior layout of the store, it is important to emphasize that the range of frozen products and dairy products has been significantly expanded, because there is an increased customer demand for these product ranges.
