Poultry meat export gains momentum
According to the Research Institute of Agricultural Economics (AKI), in April the European Commission published a short-term forecast that says: in 2019 the EU’s beef production will represent a volume of 7.9 million tons in 2019.
The EU’s poultry meat export grew by 21 percent to 315,000 tons, while import increased by 12 percent to 147,000 tons in the first two months of 2019. Data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reveals that Hungary’s poultry meat export surged by 38 percent to 46,000 tons, and our import augmented by 2 percent to 11,000 tons in the same period. Broiler chicken’s live weight price increased by 3.4 percent to HUF 257/kg.
In the Hungarian market the production price of raw milk was HUF 99.49/kg in March 2019. This price was 4 percent higher than in the 3rd month of 2018. Raw milk’s export price was HUF 94.86/kg – down 7 percent from the February level; in comparison with March 2018, the export price was 17 percent higher. //
