The Hungarian walnut harvest may double
The Hungarian walnut is popular in the world market, because of its good quality. Last year 1,000 tons of it was exported – said Bognár Károly, ambassador of the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council Foundation – (INC) in Hungary.
During World War II, the Hungarian harvest has reached 30 thousand tons. The volume in the mid-90s dropped to 3,000 tons, and due to deployments of the recent years increased to over 6,000 tons.
According to Bognár Károly; as the effect of the installations, in the next 3-5 years the Hungarian harvest can be doubled.
The annual export value of the current 1,000 tonnes is around 3 million euros (750-840 million HUF) – reports vallalkozoinegyed.hu
