Team Hungary finished second in the European selection of Bocuse d’Or!
Once again there was great interest in the European final of the Bocuse d’Or chef championship, which part of Sirha Budapest’s programme. On 23-24 March 17 teams competed at Hungexpo. The Hungarian team – Bence Dalnoki, sous chef of Stand restaurant was assisted by his commis Patrik Nyikos, Tamás Széll was the team’s coach and Szabina Szulló was its president – finished second and qualified for the Lyon world final in 2023.
After the final the jury said: the competition was stronger than usual and Jerome Bocuse underlined that the organisers did a fantastic job.
The contest attracted a big crowd and the Hungarian booth next to the final’s venue was a huge success, promoting Hungarian dishes, food and wines. One of the most important results of hosting the Bocuse d’Or European selection – and of the Hungarian team’s superb performance – is that the event has strengthened Hungary’s place on the culinary map of Europe. What is next? Preparing for the Lyon world final of Bocuse d’Or in 2023, where Team Hungary will get another opportunity to bring Hungarian gastronomy to the spotlight.
