Mary returns home
On 17 March the Embassy of Ireland in Hungary celebrated St Patrick’s Day at the Budapest campus of Central European University (CEU).

One of the themes of the reception was “Mary Cake”, a dessert created in Dublin by Henrik Spelter IV, a refugee who fled to Ireland after the Hungarian revolution in 1956. The talented Hungarian was taken on by a colleague, Alfred Bewleyl. Descendants of the two families have recently reconnected and together they brought the famous cake to Budapest.
