One of the themes of the reception was “Mary Cake”, a dessert created in Dublin by Henrik Spelter IV, a refugee who fled to Ireland after the Hungarian revolution in 1956. The talented Hungarian was taken on by a colleague, Alfred Bewleyl. Descendants of the two families have recently reconnected and together they brought the famous cake to Budapest.
