Hungary’s cake and sugar-free cake in 2024 have already been selected
This year, the Hungarian Confectionery Industry Association selected Hungary’s Cake as well as the winner of Hungary’s Sugar-Free Cake competition in cooperation with the Egy Csepp Figyelem Foundation. The decision was made in a three-round judging round, and although it is still a secret for the general public which cakes have earned the recognition, confectioners can now get access to the recipes.
The official press conference will take place on August 1, 2024, and the cakes will be available for sale in pastry shops across the country from August 19. The recipes are only available to members of the Hungarian Confectionery Industry Association, and will only be available to the public after January 1, 2025.
The theme of this year’s competition: “Superfood”
The theme of the 2024 competition was “Superfood”, the purpose of which is to draw attention to Hungarian raw materials with rich intrinsic values. Confectioners entering the competition had to use at least two ingredients from the following ingredients baskets:
Berries: blueberries, blackcurrants, rose hips, blackberries
Cereals, seeds: hemp seed, flax seed, spelt, millet
Vegetables: beets, pumpkins, carrots, sweet potatoes
Oily seeds: walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, hazelnuts
Other suggested ingredients included sea buckthorn, rowan, honey, poppy, gooseberry, strawberry, raspberry, prune, blue grape, dark chocolate and oats. The competition received 31 cake entries, in which all mandatory choices and many recommended ingredients were included in various combinations.
