On a Hungarian initiative, the origin marking requirements of honey mixtures may become stricter
The efforts of the last two years have been fruitless, and at today’s meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council, the European Commission promised to revise the labelling requirement for honey mixtures. This creates the possibility of accurately indicating the countries of origin, so that customers can easily recognize mixtures of poorer quality, which contain predominantly non-Hungarian honey, said István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture, at today’s meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council in Luxembourg.
