Hungarian innovation: Bio-Fer makes fertilizer based on soil samples
The Master Good company group started development 10 years ago, and today the Bio-Fer plant produces Hungary’s market-leading organic fertilizer, and according to plans, it will become the largest organic fertilizer factory in Europe within 3 years. In 2022, 8 products were offered, including 4 bio-certified products, and 30,000 tons of fertilizer were sold. This year’s innovation is that they are able to produce fertilizer that can be tailored to soil quality based on the soil sample submitted in advance by the farmers.
Regarding the plant’s new innovation, László Bárány Sr. said:
“In the Bio-Fer plant, we managed to implement a technological development, thanks to which we can not simply produce a standard nutrient with high content values, organic fertilizer, but we can put almost any composition product on the menu. We have a central laboratory equipped with the most modern technology. If someone sends us a soil sample, we perform a physicochemical and content analysis of the given soil, and find out which macro- or microelements in the soil need replacement. During production, we add these to the recipe, so we produce a “tailored” fertilizer mixture that goes into the soil.
