Annual sales of packs of selected cooking ingredients to prepare a restaurant-quality meal at home have reached USD 1.5 billion in the USA. Experts say that this sum may multiply in the next 5 years. There are more than 100 companies in the USA that specialise in this service and most of them are focusing on one culinary segment, e.g. vegans, paleo diet, national cuisines, etc.

Sometimes these businesses not only deliver the cooking ingredients, but also the necessary preparation utensils. Certain companies deliver the cocktails or wines which match the dish that is to be cooked. There are restaurants which, for an extra fee, also lend table, plates, decoration or staff – the latter can talk about the ingredients and preparation methods used, or help in cooking.
