The increase in population and in standard of living both increase the consumption of animal protein, while sustainable development calls for efficiency gains from the livestock breeders. This is a serious challenge for the farmers, and requires to search for new alternatives – was said at the Agrár Klub that is the forum of domestic agricultural experts.
According to forecasts, by 2050 the population will increase to 9 billion, so in the next decades, there will be a dramatic rise in food needs, while the efficient use of declining resources will gain an increasing emphasis. “The UN Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO) Food and Agriculture Situation Report 2016 sets out the recommendation that the greenhouse gas emissions in livestock breeding can be reduced by improving efficiency by up to 41 percent”- Tresó István, Head of Department of K&H Agricultural Business Development said at the last event of the Agricultural Club.
