Magazine: Fighting for survival
Károly Zerényi, a member of the body of representatives of the Guild of Hungarian Restaurateurs (MVI) shared with our magazine the package of recommendation that MVI had compiled for managing the present crisis, which was caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
In the following you can read some of the guild’s most important recommendations. MVI conducted talks with Artisjus and from 17 March until the end of the emergency period hospitality units don’t need to pay royalties for the music they play. Restaurants are trying to compensate for their drastic sales loss by doing more home delivery, so in March the guild asked the government to consider cutting the VAT on food and drinks prepared for home delivery to 5 percent from the current 27 percent. At the end of the month MVI president László Kovács asked Dr Zoltán Guller, the CEO of MTÜ to back the modification of Government Decree 61/2020, extending the scope of the KATA tax exemption to the full hospitality sector. The president also asked for help for realising the MVI concept for keeping workers. The government has accepted some of the MVI recommendations for helping employers and employees – mostly those that were recommended by other trade organisations too. //
