KSH: consumer prices rose by 3.8 percent in July

In July, consumer prices were on average 3.8 percent higher than a year before. Over the past year, the prices of food and spirits and tobacco have risen significantly – the Central Statistical Office (KSH) announced on Tuesday.

In July, compared to the same period of the previous year, food prices increased by 7.8 percent, including seasonal food prices (potatoes, fresh vegetables, fresh domestic and southern fruits) by 17.1 percent. The price of alcoholic beverages and tobacco prices rose by an average of 6.3 percent, including tobacco products, by 9.7 percent, mainly due to the increase in excise duties on products. Vehicle fuel prices fell 4.2 percent. (MTI)
