Compulsory compost – enthusiasm, uncertainty and the search for answers
From January 2024, composting will be mandatory in the European Union, so Hungary will also start selective collection of organic waste.
The user opinions are supportive, but at the same time, they reveal that all this happens without knowing exactly how it should be done, how the planned collection will be realized, especially in a metropolitan environment. The research team of Ynsight Research uses the method of netnography to examine the questions and doubts that arise in relation to mandatory composting, and tries to show, through the attitudes of netizens, how Hungarian society currently stands in this regard.
Composting is a natural process in which some of the organic matter, such as vegetable and fruit scraps, coffee grounds or eggshells, breaks down and creates nutrient-rich compost or humus. This compost is an excellent fertilizer that can be used in gardens or to supply nutrients to plants. Composting is a long-known and widely used procedure in gardening.
