More money in circulation with less debit cards
Hungarians are trying to use their debit cards more and more economically – shows the datas of the Hungarian National Bank. Less cards were used but more money was taken out and spent last year, in addition the expansion of card purchases is much faster than cash withdrawals.
Last year, a minimal reduction occured in the number of bankcards that are in circulation in Hungary – shows the Monday published datas of the National Bank of Hungary. The number of plastics in circulation decreased by ten thousand to 8.928 million. However, the number of sites accepting debit cards has increased, compared to the previous year.
The decrease in the number of cards and the relatively slow growth of the acceptance locations, however did not result in a halt of card usage. Last year more money was taken out and spent than a year earlier. (Világgazdaság – Giczi József)
