Questions and answers
In Hungary the proportion of atypical employment in the accommodation service and hospitality sector is far below the European Union’s 30% average. A GINOP project with EU funding, with the participation of the National Association of Tourism and Hospitality Employers (VIMOSZ), the Guild of Hungarian Restaurateurs (MVI) and Edutus University, set the goal of increasing this proportion. The results were presented at a conference at the end of September.
In the accommodation service and hospitality sector, workforce problems make it difficult to maintain a high level of service. The GINOP project focused on improving this situation by launching complex employment programmes, which seek to achieve a balance of work and private life, at the same time increasing the share of atypical employment in the sector. Best practices were collected for flexible employment, and training programmes were organised in the form of pilot projects.
Tourism workers represented the direct target group of the GINOP project. Within the framework of this research was also conducted, which revealed: both employees and employers are open to atypical forms of employment. At the project-closing conference participants also had the opportunity to discus other topical issues. You can find the research report and other results of the project on the MVI website.
