Blue Planet – János Áder: innovations make agriculture more attractive to young people
AgroVIR Kft., which develops agriculture with digital tools, was presented by former President János Áder in the broadcast of his Blue Planet podcast published on Monday, which can also be viewed on the most popular video sharing platform.
The former head of state drew attention to the fact that a century ago, 70 percent of society worked in agriculture, while today this proportion is only 5 percent. At that time, the total population of the Earth of 2 billion quadrupled, meanwhile, the quality of the agricultural land was getting worse and the usable water was getting less and less.
Consumption habits are changing
Miklós Maróti, the managing director of AgroVIR, pointed out: consumption habits are also changing, people are consuming more and more meat and dairy products, but animal husbandry also increases the burden on the environment. In this complex situation, the software development company helps producers with an integrated, comprehensive, data-based, innovative decision support. János Áder, chairman of the board of trustees of the Kék Bolygó Climate Protection Foundation, noted: EU regulations, profitability and sustainability aspects make decision-making in the agricultural sector more and more complicated.
Miklós Maróti said: in many cases, an agricultural producer works in a more complicated environment than a financial institution
There are times when you have to look at 800 variables to make a good decision. Today, robotic tractors and robotic milking machines also operate in Hungary, but it is difficult to change thousand-year-old techniques and it is uncertain what the consequences will be. With AgroVIR’s software, a virtual copy of a company is completely mapped, so you can make good decisions. The company investigates problems using a data-based approach. Everything must be measured, the appropriate conclusions can be drawn from specific numbers, he added. Miklós Maróti said: AgroVIR helps agricultural producers in many other European and non-European countries with software, but it is also connected to the world’s largest American-based agricultural machinery manufacturing company. The problems and ideas of producers and customers help the business. In response to János Áder’s question, the company manager stated: new solutions and innovations make the sector more attractive to young people. AgroVIR Kft. will participate in the Planet Budapest 2023 sustainability expo, which will take place for the second time this year after 2021. The event takes place from September 27 to October 1.
