Sheep Marketing Board: declining Easter exports
This year, about 20 percent less Easter sheeps are shipped abroad from Hungary, compared to the previous years – Bátor Árpád, Chairman of Sheep Marketing Board told MTI on Friday.
He said that last year in many places the dams were not inseminated, because of the high feed prices – so the growth was less. In this year Easter also came early. It is also reducing the amount of the lambs. Therefore, instead of the normal 170 thousand lambs, about 140 thousand lambs will be shipped to foreign countries. He added that the Easter lamb exports give about a quarter of the entire annual lamb exports. (MTI)
