The solar panel performs well in the INTERSPAR hypermarket in Pécs
On an annual level, a solar panel system built with an investment of about HUF 80 million represents about one month of energy savings for the INTERSPAR hypermarket in Pécs.
“The issue of environmental sustainability is extremely important to SPAR, and within that, as a major energy consumer, our main goal is to achieve the most efficient energy use possible. The most significant part of this, more than 60 percent, is the electricity consumption of shops, logistics centers, food production plants and offices. Thanks to the energy efficiency investments, in 2023 the total energy consumption of our company decreased by more than 5.5% compared to the previous year. In the past year, the operation of one of our stores in Szeged, Dorog, Pécs and Göd has already been supported by a solar panel system,”
explained Márk Maczelka, head of communications at SPAR Hungary.
SPAR Hungary’s annual renewable electricity production in 2023 was 779 GJ (216,419 kWh), which came from the production of solar systems installed at individual stores. This amount roughly corresponds to the total electricity consumption of 70 average family homes. For each investment, the company examines the possibility of using an efficient solar system that helps meet the electricity needs of the given unit.
