Life is good in Private Label
PLMA is introducing the Online “World of Private Label” Trade Show. The event, to be held 1-4 December 2020, will allow retailers and manufacturers to connect in real time with exhibitors in their digital stand. News anchor Judith Kolenburg and guest Jan Van Lier, PLMA’s International Trade Show Director go over the details.
Since 1985, PLMA’s annual “World of Private Label” has been the world’s largest trade event for the private label industry. The crisis has made it impossible for manufacturers and retailers to meet at PLMA’s annual “World of Private Label” in Amsterdam this May. PLMA is filling the gap by launching the Online “World of Private Label” 1-4 December, to allow for manufacturers and retailers to meet.
Virtual stands and meetings
The physical trade show is a 2 day event, the online show follows its logic by opening each category for 2 full days.
The usual halls and stands will be replaced by dedicated web pages that hold all relevant contact and product details of the exhibitor and that can be customised further. Products’ pictures, additional company and product information, links to product videos, downloads of product catalogues, and other relevant files can be displayed. In addition there will be 2 contacts per exhibitor that visitors can enter into instant communication with by video call or messaging system. Including the possibilities to exchange virtual business cards.
Search and filter
Retailers can find potential partners by searching product categories and subcategories, product description and manufacturer name. Search results can be further filtered by country and product characteristics such as organic, gluteenfree etc. Plus the retailers will be able to prepaire for the actual show during the exhibitor preview on Monday 30. November. On that day all exhibitors will be visible so retailers can mark favorites so the show days become even more efficient.
Visitors can contact exhibitors, initiate direct live contact with the exhibitor using an instant video connection or messaging system. Once in live contact retailer and exhibitor can exchange files and virtuals business cards and share their screens. If an exhibitor is already engaged in an other video call, both parties will receive a virtual notification and they will be able to reconnect later.
One trend that will surely stand out in the online show is sustainability. It comes back in various forms throughout the FMCG supply chain.
Judit Kolenburg emphasize that the online show is a groundbreaking event for the private label industry. Visitor registration for verified full-time employees of companies classified to fit within PLMA’s retail/wholesale category before the show is complimentary.
