Ipsos research: Hungarians see the benefits of globalization
Ipsos’ latest international research has assessed public support for globalisation and world trade in 25 countries, including Hungary. The majority believe that cross-border trade is essentially useful, but a third of the population still believe that more trade restrictions would still be needed to protect the domestic market. Hungarians do not feel the negative effects of globalisation.
Three quarters of the world’s citizens believe that expanding world trade will bring benefits to their own country’s economy. The populations of Peru and Malaysia have shown particularly strong support (86-87% consensus). Among the most pessimistic nations there are several European trading powers and export countries (France, Germany), while the Hungarian people show above-average support for world trade.
