More people would change their current job this year than last year
Currently, half of domestic employees are looking for a new job or are open to a new job opportunity, but compared to a year ago, their decision-making process is taking longer, and it takes much longer to fill a vacant position. Among their considerations, higher salary, place of work and ideal work schedule are in the top three places.
Nearly every second Hungarian employee aged 18-65 is now looking for a new job or is open to a new job opportunity, among other things, according to the results of the first quarter of 2025 data collection of the national, representative survey on job search attitudes regularly prepared by Profession.hu. 12% of those surveyed are actively applying, while 34% do not initiate a job change, but would be open to it if they were offered a new position.
When do we look for a new job and on what basis do we decide?
The proportion of those actively seeking work who are currently employed has increased significantly, to 25% – up from 16% a year earlier and 14% the year before.
The main considerations have remained the same since last year: salary and benefits are clearly at the top of job seekers’ priorities, followed by location, work schedule and hours, and working conditions. The type of prospective colleagues remains a key factor in making a change (an important consideration for every third employee).
