Half a million children receive fresh vegetables, fruits and dairy products in school programs this year
Hundreds of thousands of children receive fresh vegetables, fruits and dairy products through the School Milk and School Fruit and School Vegetable programs, which the government spends a total of 7.81 billion HUF this school year.
The School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme includes 536,000 pupils in 2309 elementary schools, while the School Milk Program includes 4378,000 pupils in 2678 schools.
The primary goal of the program is to create the need for regular milk and dairy products and vegetables and fruits in children and to reduce the risk of overweight, obesity and related diseases by developing healthy eating habits. (AM Press Office)
