Last year 4.756 million pigs were slaughtered in Hungary – 1.7 percent more than in the previous year. The president called attention to the fact that since 2014, when the VAT on live pig and half pig was reduced, the number of slaughters grew by 1 million (27 percent).
Dr Lajos Bognár, deputy secretary of state from the Ministry of Agriculture spoke about how the ministry and its background institution, the National Food Chain Safety Office (NÉBIH) work together to guarantee the safety of the food supply chain.
