Where does the meat come from?
As of 1 April more precise data must be indicated on packaged fresh, cooled and frozen meat in the European Union. In most cases the place of origin has to be indicated: the place where the livestock were bred and slaughtered. The new regulation only concerns packaged pork, poultry, lamb and goat meat, but member states are allowed to introduce it for non-packaged meat as well. Processed meat products such as ham or frozen meat pie don’t fall under the scope of the new regulation
