May be a shortage of good quality cabbage

Because of the drought less was grown of cabbage types. By the end of the summer the market demand has been developed and the high prices partly compensate the loss of crops. At the Ócsa-based experimental station of Syngenta, a professional meeting was held with more than 200 producers and other professionals involved in the sector.

Domestic cabbage business started better this year, than it was predicted. The usual early mass import of cheap Macedonian cabbage was cancelled, due to serious quality problems, so almost from the beginning, much higher prices were typical in the domestic market, compared to the previous year. The Agricultural Research Institute indicated that during a year, the price of kale increased by 230 percent, while the price of cabbage increased by 328 percent. At other cabbage types, the price increase remained within the 6-93 percent limits.  (by our colleague)
