Three important factors
Three important factors had an impact on Szal-Tó’s life in 2018: as of 1 January 2019 the public health product tax (NETA) must be paid for pálinkas and bitters too, so purchasing prices increased; keeping workers is an ever-bigger task for companies; weather: the spring/summer heat generated increased demand in the soft drink, mineral water and beer categories – this affected logistics operations.
Szal-Tó’s owner and managing director Árpád Szalai told: they sense a small shift in demand for higher-quality products. Last year the company increased worker salaries in order to be able to keep employees now that there is a workforce shortage. In 2019 they plan to raise salaries further and stock more goods to prepare for the summer high season. //
