Air conditioner average prices hardly changed in Hungary in 30 years
Daikin’s products appeared in the Hungarian market 30 years ago, establishing the premium air conditioner category in the country.
The beginning
In Hungary the Daikin story started in 1991, with Austrian company Climex GmbH – Daikin’s Eastern European distributor – entering the Hungarian market. In this period the Hungarian air conditioner market made great progress, with Daikin’s patented VRV technology successfully conquering offices, commercial and industrial buildings.
In 1999 Daikin bought its former importer Climex GmbH and later other companies too, to make Daikin Hungary Kft. one of the key players in the domestic heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) sector. Daikin offers several different HVAC solutions for any type of building.
The Daikin store in Budapest stands alone at a European level
In 2020 Daikin Hungary Kft. opened the second showroom on the continent, in the Promenade Gardens office building on Váci Road in Budapest. Here customers can learn everything about Daikin air conditioners, cooling and heating solutions.
The store’s objective is to make the knowledge and skills of the company’s experts to consumers too, as they can help customers select the Daikin solution that suits their needs the most. What is more, customers get everything at the same place – sales, installation, repair and maintenance. With the products buyers also get the premium services of Home Comfort Expert’s (HCE) nationwide partner network. Via HCE Daikin products reach consumers through regularly audited partners.
Daikin Hungary Kft.’s 30 years were about progress and success. Currently the company employs nearly 70 people and serves more than 300 contractual partners. The portfolio contains nearly 300 products.
Thirty years of air conditioning – and the solutions of the future
Back in 1991 a split air conditioner cost about HUF 200,000 and today the price is basically the same at HUF 243,000 for a Daikin split air conditioner; but back then the average salary was HUF 18,000, while it is more than HUF 411,000 now, making these devices available to basically anyone. Thanks to the inverter technology, these days an air conditioner utilises one third of electricity than 30 years ago and it can also be used for heating. However, the biggest change occurred in the cooling agent these devices work with: the 675 GWP value R23 type cooling agent has a 68 percent lower GWP value than the old R22 type and 30 percent less is enough from this in a device.
Daikin Hungary Kft. has a 10-percent share in the consumer heating, ventilation and air-conditioning market, a 20-percent share in industrial liquid coolers and nearly 30 percent in the market of variable-flow cooling-heating devices. The company believes that the future will bring further development in cooling agents, resulting in greener and more efficient solutions. Plus smart functions will become more widespread, for instance the current trend is ‘remote controlling and monitoring’. In the consumer market the design of air conditioners will also matter more.
