Gluten-free food in public catering
The mass caterers will be obliged to provide medically necessary dietary meals from 1 September – was said at the Farmer Expo in Debrecen, at a forum, held by the largest domestic manufacturer of gluten-free foods, the Civita Food Kft.
According to managing director Vaszkó Gábor, in Hungary today there is no government-guaranteed qualification of gluten-free foods.
The gluten sensitivity affects one to two percent of the population in Europe, including Hungary, but while in England, the proportion of those who choose health conscious gluten-free diet reaches 20 percent, in Hungary it is only two to three percent – he added. (MTI)
