GfK: consumer sentiment deteriorated in Germany
Due to restrictions on the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, German consumer sentiment deteriorated in January, for the fourth consecutive month, according to a survey by the GfK Economic Research Institute.
After a strong improvement in the summer months, the upward dynamics broke in the autumn and the Gfk consumer sentiment index turned to a noticeable decline. The re-introduction of a severe shortage due to the pandemic dealt a severe blow to consumer sentiment, the willingness to buy turned into a free fall, while economic and income expectations declined moderately.
