Sustainability symbol guide
In its Green Weeks campaign Auchan focuses on sustainable products for two weeks in stores. The retailer has decided to collect some of the most frequent classification terms and trademarks used on product labels or packaging.
Fair Trade
This symbol testifies that the people who made the product were paid fairly and the working conditions were good.
Möbius Strip
One of the best known symbols, which means that the given packaging is recyclable; if not fully, an added percentage indicates what proportion the recyclable material is.
Demeter
One of the oldest organic food trademarks, founded in 1928. It guarantees that the product is from biodynamic farming.
FSC
The Forest Stewardship Council symbol was established in 1993 and it focuses on sustainable forest management.
ICEA
ICEA offers certifications for ecological farmers, which are accredited by national and international institutions.
Rainforest Alliance
Rainforest Alliance This certification guarantees that the life cycle of the product can be traced from the agricultural land to the consumer.
Green Dot
Grüne Punkt” is a trademark that attests: the manufacturer paid the fee for recovering and recycling the packaging.
rePET
This logo shows what percentage of the product or packaging is recycled PET.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100
Textile products bearing this logo don’t contain harmful substances.
EU Ecolabel
Established in 1992, the EU Ecolabel trademark attests the high quality and the eco-friendly origin of the product. //
