Sustainability challenges in public sector catering
According the National Association of Public Sector Catering Service Providers (KÖZSZÖV), cafeteria fees increased by an average of 4% nationwide in 2025, but in some places the price rise was as big as 50%.

The association’s leaders have emphasised: quality is sustainable, but reducing food waste is a key issue, as 27-40% of the food cooked ends up in the bin, which could reduce by up to 80% using a buffet-style system.
