Half million less hectoliters of wine is expected this year
Instead of the annual average of 3.5 million hectoliters 3 million hectoliters of new wine this year is expected to be made, and the harvest also starts two weeks later, than usual.
This year, the volume of new wine can be 15-20 percent less than usual, harvest also starts a little later than usual, in the middle of August – said Horváth Csaba, the Secretary-General of the National Council of Wine Communities (HNT).
The farmers, expecting about 570-580 thousand tons of grape. Of this amount, about 3 million hectoliters new wine can be made.
