ICA plans to halve its food waste by 2025
The Swedish grocer ICA Gruppen has set itself a new goal regarding food waste. Essentially, it plans to cut food waste by half from its warehouses and stores in Sweden and the Baltic countries by 2025 compared with 2016.
ICA intends to use smarter purchasing algorithms, create so-called circular products in addition to routines and tools to be able to identify, at the early stages, foods that can be potentially wasted.
In addition, ICA has taken part in the joint action plan for reduced food waste created by the Swedish National Food Agency, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and the Swedish Board of Agriculture in 2018.
