Responsible innovations from Lidl
Lidl has 180 stores and employs more than 5,000 people in Hungary. The retailer pays special attention to working with Hungarian suppliers, and thanks to this almost 60 percent of the products they sell are Hungarian-made. Recently Lidl has added new healthy, gluten- and lactose-free, and organic products to its assortment. The high quality of private label products is proven by several independent tests.
Lidl sold more than 20.5 million bottles of Hungarian wine last year – more than half of this quantity in foreign markets! Lidl reduced the weight of the PET bottles of private label mineral waters. What is more, the innovative and responsible discount supermarket chain will cut the salt and sugar content of private label products by 20 percent until 2025. Between 1 January 2016 and 1 March 2019 they are increasing worker salaries by 75 percent. //
