FAO: price rises and price volatility will characterize the food market
Climate change, the use of biofuels and the spread of protectionism may further increase the food prices and may jeopardize the security of supply – warns the analysis of theUN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
According to the FAO; over the next decade price increases will characterize the market of foods and volatility will dominate.
The high prices threaten the security of supply and uncertainty, while volatility will discourage the investments, so it will be more difficult to cope with the food crises. According to the FAO; the situation shouldy be treated with international cooperation, inter alia with the strengthening of market regulations and rapid accumulation of stocks.
