‘We put our heart and soul into this pasta…’
… says Sándorná Juhász, the owner of Izsáki Házitészta Kft. about the products they make. She believes that the key to making good pasta is simple: quality flour and quality eggs. The family business employs 80 people, some of whom have been with the company for 15-20 years. Izsáki Házitészta Kft. uses 40,000-50,000 eggs a day to produce 12,000kg of pasta. About 40-45 percent of this quantity is exported – they deliver to 8 countries.
They make a wide range of products, but the focus is on typical Hungarian pastas made with many eggs. It isn’t easy to sell home-style, artisan pasta in the market today when prices are low, but as long as Hungarian families are cooking chicken meat soup, there will be pasta in it. People like traditional flavours in dishes like this – and this is exactly what Izsáki pastas offer to them.
Three years ago the company launched a new product line: pastas for outdoor cooking, e.g. to be used in the classic Hungarian cauldron called ‘bogrács’ – now in hot version as well! Izsáki Házitészta Kft. has its own website, a Facebook and Instagram page, so that young consumers can also get to know them. A professional sales and marketing team help to implement the company’s long-term strategy. To retailer partners they regularly make seasonal and occasion-based offers. (x)
