Everything that can make shopping more comfortable
Our magazine asked market players how in-store space can meet the requirements of the digital age, environmental protection and complex consumer needs? Edit Nagy, sales director of WANZL Magyarország Kft. told us that the company’s Retail System division manufactures and sells shopping trolleys, entrance systems, product displaying solutions, etc. The company’s Shop Solutions division offers complete shop fitting systems, designing and manufacturing products. Ms Nagy opines that there is great potential in shopping trolleys. Wanzl has several models that can be customised easily to reflect the image of a given retailer. One of the latest trends is that different groups of customers (children, the elderly, etc.) can use different shopping trolleys in the store.

Wanzl’s eGate systems have security features that can sense when a shopper wants to leave the store where it isn’t permitted. As for the field of digital solutions, the Wanzl Connect application gives users a single platform to control and optimise their business processes. Wanzl’s Smart Trolleys are fitted with an RFID tag, so that they can gather important shopping information. The Customer module can compile shopping lists, make personalised offers and provide information on favourite brands. The Store Management module serves as a collective platform for supervising cash registers, entrances, baking ovens, bottle return machines and refrigeration systems. For nearly 20 years Wanzl has also been the distributor of Tomra reverse vending machines.
GE was established by Thomas Edison and this was the company that invented the light-emitting diode (LED). Károly Tóth, European sales director of GE Lighting is of the opinion that lighting technology has been changing more in the past few years than ever before. LED technology is conquering the market and the company’s partners now demand complex lighting technology solutions. Mr Tóth explained that several factors must be taken into consideration when the lighting system of a store is designed.
In a shop that is open for 8-10 hours a day it is very important to display products in the right light, the kind that stresses their natural colours and characteristics. The latest trend is the use of intelligent lighting systems: these collect data and control lighting in accordance with them – saving energy and offering a better user experience. By using LED lighting 50-60 percent of the energy can be saved. LED systems are also easier and cheaper to maintain, and such light sources last longer too. GE uses so-called lighting technology audits to offer partners the best possible solution.
Dávid Szabó
CEO
Szintézis Informatics
Dávid Szabó, the CEO of Szintézis Informatics Zrt. revealed that there is great interest in the company’s retail solutions. Demand is the greatest for the SZIKE stock management system, the company’s Back Office and Front Office systems, and the VRS retail software package. Szintézis is also the distributor of Pricer electronic shelf labels and the company also has a recipe kiosk solution. Mr Szabó reckons that retailers can react to the problem of the workforce shortage by introducing self-service checkout zones and automatic retail systems. The company’s retail software products are scalable and modular. From a budget of HUF 300 million Szintézis developed cloud services: these can offer cost efficiency and reliability to partners. For instance the company’s cloud-technology based POS Back Office System serves a multinational company that is present in three countries, using a single infrastructure. There are no compatibility problems and no individual investments in IT infrastructure.
