MVI urges for more reasonable fees
MVI president László Kovács responded in a letter to a request by Artisjus for the trade association to comment on the draft fee proposal marked “V26” and prepared by the Artisjus Hungarian Bureau for the Protection of Authors’ Rights, which also affects hospitality units.

The Guild of Hungarian Restaurateurs (MVI) thinks the 3.7% royalty increase planned for 2026 is acceptable in itself, but points out that it is becoming increasingly difficult for HoReCa establishments to pay the fees.
MVI’s goal is to make the royalty system more responsive to the changing economic and professional environment. The trade association is also proposing the introduction of a new, lower fee category for bars and restaurants where live music is played. László Kovács also stressed that music consumption is now predominantly digital and streaming-based, but royalties are still levied on a device basis.
