With value-adding recycling for sustainable food production: Secondtaste and Cseles were introduced
The food industry places more and more emphasis on sustainability, and one of its important elements is value-adding recycling, which makes quality products from waste. Júlia Dalmadi, the founder of Secondtaste, presented at the press event of the Brancsköösség how food suitable for human consumption can be produced from beer dregs, a by-product of beer production. The company’s crackers are offered as beer skates, which is an innovative example on the upcycled food market – reports the Agrárszektor.
Dalmadi emphasized that their crowdfunding campaign at Brancs not only brought new customers, but also enabled cooperation with craft breweries. During the campaign, it was also possible to test the products and get them on store shelves. Future plans include creating new collaborations and opening up to foreign markets, especially in the Czech Republic, where Europe’s first upcycled food category was recently introduced.
Bálint Marton, co-founder of Cseles, shared a similarly successful story. Their company produces alcoholic syrup for adults, which was also launched through Brancs. Marton emphasized that crowdfunding helped to assess consumer needs, and online trade now accounts for a significant part of their turnover. In the future, they will focus on domestic markets, but foreign shipments have already started, for example to Costa Rica.
Both companies are an example of how innovative, sustainable products can be created from waste, and how a good idea can be brought to success with the help of crowdfunding.
