Inspections and fines
Inspections by the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) are once again frequent in HoReCa establishments.

As of 1 August 2024 bigger fines were introduced, which is likely to bring an increase in the number of checks. For instance if a person employs undeclared workers, the maximum fine is now HUF 2m instead of the former HUF 1m. The maximum penalty to pay for failure to comply with the obligation to issue invoices or keep documents also grew from HUF 1m to HUF 2m.
