Analysts expect further acceleration in inflation in the spring months
In terms of both magnitude and structure, February inflation was in line with expectations, according to analysts who expect a further rise due to the base effect of fuel prices and an increase in excise duty. It was believed that after reopening, increased demand would meet weakened supply, which would weaken competition and facilitate higher pricing.
According to a report by the Central Statistical Office (KSH), consumer prices were 3.1 percent higher in February than a year earlier and 0.7 percent higher than in the previous month. Core inflation in February was 4.1 percent, 0.1 percentage point lower than in January. (MTI)
