The heat caused billions of dollars damages in Serbia
Compared to the average of recent years, the Serbian agriculture can expect an about 1 billion USD less profit, due to the heat and droughts of recent weeks – agricultural experts emphasized in the agricultural summary of the Serbian Danas daily.
It is calculated that this year’s yield will be 20 percent lower than usual. Agriculture accounts for ten percent of gross domestic product (GDP) in Serbia, but it may fall to eight percent this year, said Milan Prostran, agricultural expert. (Markovics Annamária, MTI)
