Pek-Snack: Special portfolio, high quality products
Pek-Snack Kft.’s new managing director talked to our magazine about the company’s plans.
You were appointed managing director of Pek-Snack after working for multinational companies for more than 25 years. How do you feel in your new position?
– I feel great, it is a positive challenge for me. I am part of a business structure now that can be managed and shaped relatively freely. Our goal is to create a system that is capable of regional-level operation.
Pek-Snack products are available in three countries.
– Pek-Snack manufactures in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Croatia. Our Czech factory, Rina Europe s.r.o. mainly supplies the markets in Western Europe with premium quality products. The production plant in Hungary makes frozen bakery items for the domestic market and Croatia.
How much did the FMCG market change in recent years in terms of consumer expectations?
– Consumers have become more conscious. They want healthy products and they like to choose from a large selection. For instance there are also lactose-free and low-carb products in our portfolio.
How big is the demand for lactose-free products?
– As a matter of fact it is smaller than we expected. Currently our health-conscious and free-from products are performing better in Western Europe than in the Hungarian market. Anyway, we will continue innovating in this direction too.
Another hot topic these days is environmental protection.
– Our products are made in compliance with the International Food Standard, the MSZ EN ISO 14001 environmental management standard, the MSZ EN ISO 50001energy management system and the RSPO Supply Chain Certification Standard.
Online stores are expanding fast. Do you plan to sell Pek-Snack products online?
– We do have an online shop in order to be able to serve partner needs more flexibly. Orders are delivered to partners the following day. Pek-Snack doesn’t sell directly to consumers from the online shop.
What are your medium- and long-term plans as managing director?
– In the short term our objective is to ensure perfect product supply for partners, while in the medium and long term we intend to establish a well-structured, flawlessly functional regional multinational company. (x)
