A unique taste experience in the name of sustainability: the award-winning dark purple tomato has arrived at Hungary
From May the multi-award-winning YOOM ™ tomato is available in Hungary as well.
YOOM ™ is a tomato of Syngenta, one of the world’s leading agricultural companies, operating in more than 100 countries.
The company committed to accelerate innovation for farmers and nature as part of its sustainability plan, Good Growth Plan for the period 2021-2025, published last November. In line with this, YOOM ™ was born as a result of innovative joint work.
Thanks to YOOM ™’s combination of amino acids and flavours, it has a strong taste of umami – the so-called fifth flavour –, which heightens the intensity and tastiness of foods.
Its characteristic purple tints indicate high concentration of anthocyanin and carotenoids – potent antioxidants which help to fight tiredness. In addition, it has a large amount of vitamin C, as well as a high magnesium and potassium content, which makes it the ideal food by participating in regulating blood pressure and the problems associated with cardiovascular illnesses.
At YOOM™ we grow our tomatoes around the world, seeking out the ideal weather conditions for perfect growth. In this way we are also make our carbon footprint smaller by reducing distances travelled in delivering the products.
In 2021, consumers will find YOOM ™ – grown in the southern part of Hungary, in the horticulture of Trivega Kft. in Orosháza and Forráskút – on the shelves of Tesco hypermarkets in 300,000 packages from sustainable forestry. Tomatoes are grown by professionals in a modern greenhouse, which is heated with geothermal energy. Plants develop in a natural environment, protecting them from diseases and insects with biological crop protection.
YOOM™ had won the Fruit Logistica Most Innovative Product Award in 2020, received the “Superior Taste Award” of Brussels Taste Institute and in Belgium, it became Product of the Year in the vegetable category.
