400 food and catering companies in Spain made a commitment to make their products healthier, reducing the sugar, fat, and salt content by an average of 10 percent – the Spanish press told.
“This is a milestone, a huge effort on the part of the industry,” María Luisa Carcedo, Spanish Minister of Health said on the agreement between the ministry and companies on Tuesday.
According to the politician, 54 percent of the Spanish adult population and 40 percent of the children are overweight, with 17 percent of adults and 18 percent of children obese. (MTI)
