Magazine: CSR: Responsibility, sustainability and transparency
CSR Hungary has organised its Responsible Business Summit for the Economy of the Future conference. The first speaker was Dr Anita Boros, secretary of state at the Ministry for Innovation and Technology. She revealed that the government is working on new strategies in the fields of energy use, climate policy, waste and water resources management, so that the economy, society and the environment will become sustainable in Hungary – if these are supported by a sustainability strategy implemented by the corporate world.
Work in the first section focused on sustainability. Dr István Pintér, president of the Council of Geopolitics analysed the geopolitics of the water, oil, data and sustainability domains. He told that consumers had realised the importance of sustainability and now more of them are buying products made sustainably. Péter Tálos, vice president of the Joint Venture Association told in his presentation: Every company has social responsibility, because they make a great impact on the environment and the society through the products and services they make.
Júlia Takács, managing director of CSR Hungary spoke about what the European Union concentrates on in sustainability matters. Since there is no standard guidance system yet, most companies examine individually how they can integrate CSR work into their business operations the best.
In the second section the first speaker was Lajos Klug, former CEO of FKF Zrt. He gave an insight into the plant protection benefits of communal green waste’s horticultural utilisation. Tamás Paparó, external communications manager of Tesco-Globál Áruházak Zrt. revealed in his presentation that by 2030 they will utilise renewable energy only, and the company will cut its CO2 emission by 60 percent until 2025 and by 100 percent until 2050. //
