Szarvas-based turkey processing company Gallicoop Zrt. invests HUF 1.6 billion (from which 50-percent is state funding) in building a packaging centre. The company, which processes 40,000 tons of poultry meat a year to make 8,000 tons of products, will complete the development project by May 2018.

CEO István Erdélyi told: shopper demand is growing for smaller-sized products, which they can consume instantly and don’t have to store. Gallicoop controls each phase of production, this is why in 1994 the company bought an animal feed mixing facility that now operates with a 70,000-ton capacity.
From the company’s HUF 33-billion sales performance HUF 13 billion was realised in foreign markets in 2016. Gallicoop is a six-star manufacturer: it has Hungarian owners and workers, uses domestic expertise and ingredients in processing – which also takes place in Hungary – meat that comes from poultry bred in Hungary and fed with Hungarian animal feed. //
