Lower sales concentration
Between February 2014 and January 2015 cooking oil sales amounted to HUF 27 billion. Value sales were 11 percent lower than in the base period, but volume sales were up 3 percent. 400m² and bigger stores’ market share fell from 74 to 72 percent, while that of stores smaller than 400m² rose from 26 to 28 percent. Olive oil is sold in the value of HUF 4 billion a year. In the examined period value sales grew 17 percent and volume sales soared by 20 percent. Sales concentration lowered here as well, but it is still high: 400m² and bigger stores’ share dropped from 88 to 87 percent; 200m² and smaller stores’ share grew from 7 to 9 percent.
